Nathalie Chiu

Hi, my name is Nathalie Chiu and I'm currently a sophomore at Arcadia High School in California. A little fun fact about me is that I have a habit of collecting mugs and souvenir magnets whenever I travel around the world. During my free time when I'm not studying, I enjoy hanging out with my friends. However I always dedicate a part of my time to binge-watch k-dramas! 

 

I'm the CoFounder and President of this organization along with Catherine. We founded this organization during a facetime call at the end of summer school, we started it as a minor project to help out females in general. Currently we are mainly focusing on South Asia as many are facing serious discriminations based on their gender, for example gender role stereotypes, and various assaults at a daily basis. I believe that the right and opportunity to receive quality education should be equal to both genders no matter what their family backgrounds are. It shocked and infuriated me to witness all these mistreatments continuing to happen to females in today's well developed modern world.

 

Being the President of the The Ladies First Project, even though I know this organization might not change the world, but I hope that we'll be able to at least lighten someone's day by reaching out, helping, and raising awareness to this issue. I highly anticipate for our future projects and meeting our organization's vision: where education is accessible and equal to every individual.
